Welcome!

 

Old Town has a new restaurant!  Welcome ChubbyZ Sandwich Shoppe now open at 302 E. Center.  Their menu includes soups, salads, sandwiches, fries, tots, wings and more. They are open from 11am to 8pm Tuesday through Thursday and from 11am to 3am on Friday and Saturdays with a special late night menu.  You can dine in, take out or call for delivery, 208-478-0237.  We are super excited to welcome ChubbyZ to our neighborhood.  Be sure to stop in this week and check out their menu, enjoy a meal and help welcome them to our community.

 

4th of July Parade in Old Town!

 

The 4th of July Parade will be returning to Old Town Pocatello!  Sponsored by Idaho Central Credit Union and Portneuf Medical Center, the parade will begin at 10am and will wind its way through Old Town Pocatello from the Old Town Pavilion to 1st Street.  This year’s theme is “Celebrate America.” Registration is now open and we would love to have you participate!  Please visit http://pocatelloparade.org to enter your float, view the parade route and for more information.

The hanging flower baskets for this summer are up and they are beautiful!  Thank you to Pinehurst Nursery for planting and growing them for us.  Thank you to the staff at Myers Anderson Architects for hanging them. Thank you to all who came out on Saturday to enjoy the Oldies Rod and Custom Car Show on Main Street. It was the perfect day to kick off the first Downtown Days Event.  Thank you to the Senior Activity Center for partnering with us to bring the event to Old Town Pocatello.  Thank you to all of the volunteers that worked to make the event successful.  Mark your calendars now for the Downtown Days Flea Market and Antique Show coming to Main Street on July 14 from 9am to 3pm in cooperation with the Portneuf Valley Farmers Market.

 

This week in Old Town!

 

Sunday is Father’s Day.  Be sure to shop in Old Town. Visit Snake River Fly, East Fork Bikes, Molinelli’s Jewelers, Walrus & Carpenter Books, Decadence Board Shop, Pocatello Running Company, The Orange & Black Store, just to name a few of our charming shopping options.  Pick up a gift card at one of our restaurants, coffee shops or wine stores.  How about a vintage sign from one of our antique shops?  Our Old Town merchants can help you find the perfect, unique gift for your Dad!

 

The Grecian Key Restaurant is featuring their delicious Greek Gyros on Tuesday and Thursday, for lunch or dinner, just $5.50.  The patio is open!  Stop in this week and enjoy an authentic Greek meal.

 

Revive @ 5 on Wednesday will feature live music by Hillbilly Band.  America’s Best is this week’s sponsor.  The Picnic Basket will be the featured restaurant with delicious food.  The special feature this week is the best dressed hillbilly contest with fun prizes to be won. The Wednesday Farmers Market will be open, too!  Come enjoy great music, food, cold beverages, ice cream, and more on Wednesday from 5-8pm at the Old Town Pavilion.

 

The Tasting Room, 328 W. Clark, will be hosting Wednesday Night Trivia Night.  They will have a round at 6, 7, and 8pm with prizes for the winners of each round. Test your knowledge and enjoy a fun evening at The Tasting Room.

 

Lawerence H. Danielson Coin Merchant is now open inside The Elwen Cottage, 334 N. Main St.  The Coin Shop hours are Wednesday through Saturday 11am to 4pm, or call for an appointment, 208-216-9885.

 

Second Time Around, 701 S. 1st, is featuring a selection of dolls this week including Madame Alexander and Shirley Temple Dolls.  They also have a wide variety of vintage furniture and mid-century pieces.  Enjoy ice tea and cookies while you shop.

 

Thursday night wine tasting at The Bridge, inside the Historic Yellowstone Hotel, 230 W. Bonneville.  Event begins at 5pm.  On Friday enjoy Live Jazz at The Bridge beginning at 7pm.

 

The Portneuf Valley Farmers Market is now open every Saturday from 9am to 1pm at the Old Town Pavilion.  Be sure to stop in and shop fresh!

 

The First National, 232 W. Center, will host a Revive @ 5 After Party on Wednesday featuring Shawn Barnby on stage from 8-10pm.  On Friday, Jareth X. Sampson, Jake Kratochvil, and Evan Norman will be on stage beginning at 10pm and on Saturday don’t miss Lizard People with Ashlee Jenkins live beginning at 9:30pm.

 

Portneuf Valley Brewing has new business hours. They're now open at 11:30am daily. Sunday thru Thursday they close at 9:30pm and Friday and Saturday at 11pm. On Friday night Whistle Pig will be in the Loft beginning at 8:30pm and on Saturday Regatta de Blanc will be playing at 9pm.   

 

Upcoming Events!

 

A new monthly Poetry Open Mic Night is coming to Old Town Pocatello.  On the last Saturday of every month the community is invited to come read and listen at the Gate City Fine Arts Gallery, 315 W. The Highland High School Class of 1998 will be holding their 20 Year Reunion June 28-30.  The Alumni Reception & Dinner will be held at the Pocatello Elks Lodge, 410 N. Great Harvest Bread will host their annual Christmas Basket Extravaganza during July.  This is where they show off their baskets for the upcoming holiday season. July First  

Friday Art Walk      July 6!   

Old Town will be alive with crowds on July 6, as we host the July First Friday Art Walk. Don't miss this opportunity to view and experience art by local artists as well as regional and national artists. The walk includes over twenty businesses, restaurants and galleries, some with art on display, some with the artist on hand and some providing a live demonstration. Refreshments are always available. You may also find live music along the way. All local residents and visitors are welcome. There is no charge to attend monthly Art Walks.

 

During the July Art Walk children and artists will be creating fun sidewalk art throughout Old Town. Come stroll through the area and discover all of the creativity and talent of our youth!

 

Portneuf Valley Farmers Market

The Portneuf Valley Farmers Market is open for the summer!  Enjoy local, fresh produce and more every Saturday from 9am to 1pm at the Old Town Pavilion!  And, every Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm May 23 through August 29 in conjunction with the Revive @ 5 Summer Concerts!

The Bannock Civitan Club is excited to once again host the Revive @ 5 Summer Concert Series. Please plan to join us at the Old Town Pavilion every Wednesday from 5-8pm all Summer long!
